Due to the low river levels on the Rhine, a series of accidents happend at Cologne. The Rhine at Cologne has an average depth of 321cm, at the moment it is ranging around 185cm to 210cm.

Two of the freigthers could be freed, another one is stuck at Cologne Deutz. Even seperating the tow boat from the barge, to free each of them individually, did not help. The WSA Cologne plans to unload the ship at least partially in order to free it. This is scheduled for Tuesday morning. Afterwards the river bed has to be restored due to all the sand and mud moved by the ships while attempting to free itself.

Until then, the Rhine river is blocked for all traffic.
